I wish The Perry Bible Fellowship would update more than once every blue moon. I miss reading such a demented strip and no other webcomics (that I've found - suggestions gratefully accepted) match its cruel absurdity. There are of course XKCD and Dinosaur Comics to fill the void, but the only one that actually has me gasping not to let out a howl of laughter every time I read it is 4chan stalwart Garfield Minus Garfield:

Garfield Minus Garfield is a site dedicated to removing Garfield from the Garfield comic strips in order to reveal the existential angst of a certain young Mr. Jon Arbuckle. It is a journey deep into the mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness and depression in a quiet American suburb.

Such a simple idea, but it gets me every time.

But seriously, guys! Any recs?

Saw Garfield w/o Garfield in book format somewhere and it sucked because they had the originals right under. Way better w/o even the comparison.

Thanks, I'll check both out.

I love how sinister John's life becomes in that strip. >:)

They've just collected the Perry Bible Fellowship cartoons and I was flicking through the book in Forbidden Planet the other week - it's pure gold. :D

I'm totally blanking on possible strips to fill the gap, though...

It's that innocent style, the use of magic and unicorns and then... death and paedophilia and horrible, horrible reality. Brilliant juxtaposition.

I read a whole slew of webcomics, but I do enjoy Little Dee and Schlock Mercenary quite a bit.

A pox on that strip, marra! I thought I'd dive in and try a couple out and then was sucked into reading and reading and reading. Haha. >:D
